Music Store Business Plans – Fighting Your Online Competitors

Written by admin

To succeed in the launch of a new “brick and mortar” music store, you must not merely create competitive advantage relative to other music stores in the vicinity, including big chains like Wal-Mart and Best Buy, but fight online competition from iTunes, Rhapsody, Pandora, and more. Don’t forget to detail your strategy for staking our your market share against these sellers in the competitive analysis of your business plan. These are three ways brick and mortar music stores can differentiate themselves against these online competitors.

Expertise of Salespeople

By hiring salespeople who will offer customers a deep understanding of the music you sell, your staff can offer recommendations, be sought out as experts, and offer personal taste. Although you may pay a premium for these type of salespeople, they may be able to encourage sales through their own recommendations once customers begin to value their opinions.

Events

Holding seminars or talk-backs with artists, or even live performances if your store can handle it, can be a great way to create buzz around the store in a way that online stores simply cannot. By making events a regular occurrence and tying them in directly with the music you sell, you can promote the products and earn chances to familiarize more customers with your store.

Atmosphere

A third method of differentiation is by creating “atmosphere”. With background music, decoration, and additional product offerings to look at, your store can become a unique destination. Uniqueness is especially valued in a time where many customers are tired of the cookie cutter look of big box stores and the lack of character and experience for an online store. If you make sure your store tries to be everything these competitors are not, you will find interest among many customers who take part in the backlash against the de-personalization of the music buying experience and seek to show their individuality not just by what they listen to but by where they buy it.

Business Management and The Bible

Written by admin

This article is about a business management and the Biblical example of a man named Boaz. In the course of life you may be given the privilege to manage people in a work force. Remember, always that it is a privilege to manage the greatest resource on the planet, men and women. Let us take a look at one man and how God used his life to bless others. This author recognizes that some may not see the Bible as a management hand book and that is okay. That being said let us turn our attention to the book of Ruth in the Bible.

We pick up the scene with the arrival of one of the central figures a man named Boaz. What this author finds interesting is the way Boaz greets his farm hands with the greeting, “The Lord be with you.” It seems to me that Boaz is not simply greeting his crew with an empty greeting. Here is a man that is loves with his laborers. As a leader in any business, managers or owners must have a deep concern for those placed under them. A quality manager takes the time to know his people.

The reaction of his labors is remarkable. The people in the field seem to understand that for them to be blessed, Boaz must be blessed. The relationship here cannot be missed. If you are running a brick and mortar business or an online business that dynamic must be at work. The online world as well as the offline world must have people that will give value first then reap a harvest. We can see that Boaz is the alert owner by recognizing a new person at the field. She is not a worker but a gleaner. Gleaning was the way that God provided for those who had little to nothing.

Ruth is not seeking a handout  She is willing to work and work hard. Managers must be on the lookout for this type of person. This kind of person will give the value first and are willing to wait for the harvest. Boaz then is willing to go beyond the norm for her. Are you a manager or sponsor that has overlooked these kind of people? Look at your down line or the people that you manage and look to be a blessing not only to them but also their families.

Yes, as Jim Collins puts it, “Get the right people on the bus.” These people will be attracted to you only if you become one of the people who learn to add value to others lives. Business Managers must look for ways to be a blessing everyday. Greet those below you in a happy way let them understand that, yes, you have a business to run but you are concerned for their welfare. Doing this will help you build a productive and profitable work force.

Boaz was also a man of great wealth. He knew how to market his goods. He also was able to understand how to create a market. As an owner or manage who must know how to do this. You must learn how to magnetically attract business. If you continue building good relationships in your work force and attract business you are on your way to profit.
